An Enjoyable Medium Run

Rehashed Run No: 1677; Hares: Michelle Neo a.k.a. Slim Lady & Dr. Iqbal Myint Cho a.k.a. Dr. Lingkun; Date: 13th February, 2007; Venue: Orna Resort, Gapam.

WI.jpg Slim Lady is a young and jovial harriet who has been with MH3 for hardly one year, whereas Dr. Lingkun is an ardent hasher who has been running with MH3 for a few years. Come two Tuesdays ago it was their first joint run set at a familiar runsite at scenic Gapam some 18 km east of the Malacca city. As such, it had attracted quite a good number of ardent hashers.

It was a hot, dry and windy afternoon. On arrival at the runsite early, there were already a number of early birds. Among them were new On Sec. Chickadee, Website Kang, Oil Rig Lim, Orang Kaya, Sweetie Pie and Chee. Chickadee was seen busily recording the attendance. On being asked, she said the hares were assisted by Bombastic to lay the paper. What a great relief, as from their past records the run was not expected to be long and tough but short and sweet!

It was at 5.45 pm that, in the absence of GM Cocker, the patience got the better of Orang Kaya, Sweetie Pie, my partner and I. We left the runsite as early birds by following the paper on the right across the Ayer Keroh - Bemban Road. We took a leisure walk across a cool oil palm plantation, a few farm houses and an open bushy land. Upon entering a rubber plantation 25 minutes later, it hit the first and only check at a bushy path. A spread-out search was conducted with Orang Kaya heading right and me heading left. It was quite a tricky check. The connecting paper was found by me a few minutes later in the bush across a ditch. As early birds, we did not join the paper.

The paper then proceed uphill and downhill on a bushy trail for the next 15 minutes before hitting the first and only false trail. It was quite a tricky one. Its connecting paper was found by Orang Kaya on the right of the back trail some 100 meters away. The paper continued to trudge through the rubber plantation for a short distance before emerging at a long stretch of open land. It was at its fringe after crossing it that I was overtaken by energetic front runners Dr. Pandirajah, Barry and Ranger. From then on, it was another some 1.5 km run on the rural road and busy Ayer Keroh - Bemban Road before arriving back at the runsite at 7.05 pm where the beer wagon was waiting. More runners trickled in as time passed by. They included Peter, Killer Tony, Sexy Chan and Dennis the Menace who complained that the front runners did not join the paper at the check. Understandably which front runner would join it at the risk of being overtaken by him, an energetic fast runner! The last runners were back some 30 minutes later. They were none other then Laughing Buddha and a lovely harriet guest. They were seen smiling. Only God knows why!

It was a medium run of some 7 km. Most of the runners appeared to have enjoyed it.

Hash circle was conducted by GM Cocker. It saw the hares and a few sinners being put on ice and on-downed.

On-On was held at a Chinese restaurant in Batu Berendam. Four tables were fully taken up. A delicious Chinese dinner was served. It was followed by on-down sessions for the hares and a good number of sinners. The dinner was on the hares. It was at 10.30 pm that the crowd began to disperse. A big thank to the hares for the good run, good food and good time. On! On!
